There’s a catch-22 wherein the lack of value stability keeps bitcoin from widespread adoption, and lack of widespread adoption keeps the exchange rate down. If there’s a possibility of getting rich off the exchange rate, than we do not have value stability. There’s not really any way around that fact. And without value stability, few merchants will be willing to change to bitcoin pricing.

I think eventually we’ll discover that we can do better, by freeing up the number of coins.
